I’m working on a jewish studies multi-part question and need a sample draft to help me learn.

these questions in context. I am leaving the content of this introduction unspecified. But, it
should tie the different answers together in some way.
 

No additional research is required beyond the readings assigned for the class topic you
choose, but you may cite additional sources if you wish.

Submit your paper via Canvas by the beginning of class on Friday, December 17. (You may also
submit it anytime earlier.) Each calendar day a paper is late will result in a 7-point grade
deduction (e.g., 91% becomes 84%). I will not give extensions except in truly extraordinary
circumstances, or unless you have a documented disability that allows you extensions (and we
have already discussed this possibility). Please prepare early to avoid any COVID-related
disruptions to the end of your semester

1. Is there anything historical about the story of the Exodus as presented in the Bible

2.What did the Ten Commandments mean to the Israelites who first wrote them? How have they affected matters of social justice in the intervening millennia?

3.What is the “Conquest Model” vs. the “Peaceful Infiltration” model?

4.How did Hellenism affect Judaism? How did Jewish attitudes towards sacred scripture
change during this time?

5. What’s the story of the Maccabean revolt? Make sure you could summarize it in a few
sentences at your next Hanukkah party. 

6. Imagine a world where Christianity is considered a branch of Judaism. How would that
world differ from ours today?

7. Can you think of a modern situation where you can apply one or more of these teachings?
Is the ancient Jewish ethical advice/teaching good or bad, in your opinion?
