licensed preschool weekly snack menu H e a l t h M e d i c a l

You will need to go online and find a licensed preschool weekly snack menu; one chain that publishes their snack menu is Kindercare. Typically they will have an AM snack and a PM snack. You will need to download this menu and save it for this assignment. You will either make over the AM snack or the PM snack from Monday through Friday. You need to choose one and make it over for the entire week. You need to insert a copy of the original snack menu in your document that has the center’s logo and then make it over.

Your preschool snack menu makeover needs to be based on the CACFP Snack Requirements for Children ages 1 through 12, Table 17-6, make sure that you only use the column for ages 3-5 and for a snack makeover only. Your snack will only have two food groups and you should be serving water instead of milk. If you choose to add milk for one snack this means you can only add one food item with the milk because milk is a food group. Table 17-6 is a table for meals and not snacks. You will include portion sizes and specific amounts of vitamins and minerals (in mg’s or percent) for each food type for your snack menu makeover; all food groups should be covered during the week. You may not reuse any of the original snack. You will also need to include the specific amounts of vitamins and minerals (mg’s or percent) in the old snack food items; you will need these values for the rationale section of this assignment.

Your single document submission will include: an image from the original snack menu from a licensed preschool center, the made over preschool snack, and your write up based on the assignment directions (attached below).
