The two ways I can develop myself professionally to become more skilled with communication diversity in the workplace are by paying attention to integrity in my communication and by being honest. Using integrity and honesty when communicating with people in the workplace will help me develop professionally because it will show the people I am communicating with that I am honest, truthful, and trustworthy as a person, and that they can trust me, regardless of their background, etc.
One way I can develop my communication in a diverse workplace, would be to keep my written and spoken words clear and concise. It’s important that I make sure that I choose my words carefully so they will not be misconstrued or confused. I should try to identify which means of communication, instant messaging, email, or verbal, works best for each individual I am communicating with. If possible I can look for different ways to translate vital information such as using an interpreter or a translation program. If my place of work offers language training it might be beneficial to participate.
Another way I can develop my communication in the workplace is to listen. Taking the time to understand my coworkers or clients point of view. If we are not patient with language barriers or cultural differences we can run into mistakes or frustrated clients or personel. Above all it is important to respect others’ differences. Everyday we have the potential to work with someone who is different from ourselves and welcoming the new challenge with an open mind will not only make the encounter more enjoyable but more than likely lead to an ideal outcome.
One way that you can professionally develop yourself to be more skilled in the communication area while in your workplace is to be more open and honest, but not too blunt, to others, helping guide them with positive attitude. This will help others want to talk to you and discuss their thoughts, giving feedback where needed, and vice versa. Another way that you can develop yourself more is to learn the vast dictionary of the English language. Or you could learn other common languages to communicate with others that do not know English that well.
The skills learned in this course can help me create professional emails and documents, while at the same time learning all possible situations to be able to keep an open mind when discussing different topics. It will help you see both sides of the story, instead of just the black and white side.
The disorder I chose is ADHD, but in the aspect for women/ girls, because there is seperate symptoms between men and woman, even though some of it may be in common. The symptoms can be: withdrawn, disorginized, forgetfulness, talkitive, hyperness, can’t stay on one topic. For grown adult females, terrible memory, constantly loosing things. Even though this reference states the difference between adult and child, sometimes they can both be the same thing no matter what age, it all depends on the person. The type of therapy I believe will be most successful would probably be, a behavioral therapast may not be able to treat the actual disorder but they can help them understand it, and help them manage the symptoms, so they can live with this disorder. ADHD can be managed but it is a tough disorder, people just see it as not focusing but it is so much more than that and people need to realize that.
I pick Eating Disorders
Eating disorders is a choice that people make on there own but it can also be a bad thing to do. Eating Disorders has different kind of disorder the first one is call Anorexia nervosa, Restrictive,Binge-purger these are the different ones of eating disorder. People with this disorder may eat too much food or eat a little food or have a problem with they way they look or the shape they are. People that dont get help for this it can become very bad and very serious and life threating. I think the type of therapy that can help people with this disorder is having friends or family monitored on a daily basis. I also think if someone is bad off with this disorder should be hospitalization just to be monitored just in case of an emergency. I think also if you have someone that can keep you motive and say postives thing that would help. I know for me I had a eating disorder were i was eating less food because i was pick on about how big i was and my shape. I do belive that family based treatment is a good way to go. Familys can help you maintain a healty eating patterns.
A borderline personality disorder is a continuous pattern of mood swings and impulsive behavior. Other symptoms could include distorted self-image, unstable relationships, or even self-harming. Which I believe psychotherapy can help tremendously. Although borderline personality disorder may have symptoms of impulsive behavior, recent studies show BPD patients have an increased impulsive choice rather than an increased impulsive action (Paret et al, 2017)
