These past few week that most important thing that I have learned is PESTEC in how it helps remembering external factors. According to the British Broadcasting Corporation(BBC), (2021), “These are: political – For example, new legislation, economic – For example, inflation, and unemployment, social – Changes in taste and fashion or the increase in spending power of one group, for example, older people, technological – For example, being able to sell goods online or using automation in factories, environmental – For example weather conditions affecting sales or production and growing interest in being ‘green’ , for example by recycling, competitive – The impact of a rival firm which may have a similar product or which may lower its prices.” Each of these external factors can and will affect any business in a positive or negative way. Another thing to consider as well is that in some circumstances it can even be both.

Companies today are influenced by things beyond their control. How they decide on responding and how fast they respond are the external forces that can make the difference between success in today’s fast paced business environment. Every day they operate in all of these environments simultaneously, and factors in one environment can affect or complicate factors in another and so forth. In the end for any industry, it is a small world, and it’s only getting smaller.
